Somatic and Body-Based Therapy
Listen to Your Body’s Wisdom
Somatic therapy is a gentle yet powerful approach that brings the body into the heart of the healing process. While traditional talk therapy can offer valuable insight, it often misses the part of us that holds our deepest imprints: the nervous system.
Trauma doesn’t just live in our memories—it lives in our muscles, breath, posture, and internal rhythms. Somatic therapy helps you learn to listen to what your body has been trying to tell you all along.
This work invites a return to wholeness by guiding you to feel safe inside your body again, reconnect with your inner signals, and unwind the patterns—both conscious and unconscious—that were once necessary for survival.
What Is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy understands that the body is not separate from the mind. It holds the residue of lived experience—especially experiences that were too much, too fast, or too soon.
This approach doesn’t force or overwhelm. Instead, it gently supports you in tracking sensations, breath, posture, and movement with curiosity and care. Through this awareness, the body begins to feel met, and long-held stress or survival responses can start to complete.
This isn’t about dramatic catharsis or re-experiencing trauma. It’s about slowing down. About building safety. About growing your ability to be with yourself—in all your complexity—with more compassion, resilience, and choice.
Somatic Therapy Can Help You:
Reconnect with your body after years of disconnection, shutdown, or numbness
Gently release tension, freeze, or fight-or-flight responses held in your system
Reduce chronic anxiety, hypervigilance, or emotional overwhelm
Access a sense of grounded presence and inner safety
Develop stronger boundaries—physically, emotionally, and energetically
Build resilience to stay present through challenging emotions and sensations
What Might Sessions Include?
Each session is guided by your system—what feels safe, accessible, and meaningful for you in the moment.
Together, we may work with:
Body awareness: tracking sensations, noticing shifts, tuning into what’s alive
Breath and grounding practices: anchoring your attention and supporting regulation
Imagery and inner resourcing: using symbolic or felt imagery to support safety and connection
Micro-movements or postural awareness: allowing the body to express and integrate
Touch work (if appropriate): supporting boundaries, containment, or regulation through consensual, intentional contact (coming soon***)
This process is collaborative, spacious, and always attuned to your pace. You’re never pushed—only gently invited.
