What to expect when working with me

I work one-on-one with each client, drawing on my clinical training and lived experiences to help each individual feel seen, safe, and understood.

I strive for cultural and emotional awareness in every interaction and I understand the importance of authenticity, patience and meeting people wherever they are on their journey. As your partner in healing, we will build a strong foundation that will help you overcome any obstacles that you may be facing.

Therapeutic Approaches

01

Trauma Informed

Many of my clients experience Complex Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I incorporate evidence-based styles such as somatic therapy, mindfulness therapy and EMDR to guide clients through these challenges. These therapy styles help individuals rewrite their personal history and engage in positive self-actualization.

02

Person-Centred & Relationship-Based

I work closely with each client to help them search for meaning and understand their greater purpose. As our bond strengthens, clients feel not only seen and heard but as though I am experiencing them by recognizing their speech patterns and nuances. Through emotional attunement, my guidance helps each client tap into their inner wisdom and recognize their capabilities.

03

Integrative and Holistic

I incorporate a range of holistic therapy styles in my practice to maximize each clients’ comfort and to align with their mental state. Authentic, empathetic care is at the core of my practice, which allows me to form close bonds with clients and build a judgement-free space.

Therapeutic Specializations

01

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a form of therapy used for various psychological conditions. It is most associated with and approved for use with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), however, it can be effective in treating issues such as panic attacks, dissociative disorders, phobias, addictions, and personality disorders.

When a person experiences a traumatic situation, memories can be stored in a way where the associated feelings and sensations are attached to the memory. This can lead to a person fully re-experiencing the feelings or sensations when a memory is recalled. By incorporating EMDR into treatment, we can ‘reprogram’ how the brain recalls and processes memories, allowing new feelings and sensations to become associated with memory.

02

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for Children and Youth

EMDR is a useful tool to help children realign their thoughts and feelings associated with a traumatic event. I specialize in exploring and processing traumatic memories with Children by incorporating an EMDR approach. When working with children, I utilize developmentally appropriate expressive therapeutic modalities such as expressive art, play and sand tray to help a child feel safe, comfortable and heard as we engage in therapy.

03

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT focuses on working with an individual’s emotions in order to understand them better. It can help individuals resolve unpleasant emotions by focusing on these emotions as a source of information instead of suppressing them. Further, it uses the theory that past relationships can deeply affect how we feel and relate to others. This helps individuals better understand why and how they experience their problems, allowing them to identify common triggers and discover new ways of coping with their emotions.

I specialize in providing EFT in both individual and family formats. When providing Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), parents can discover how to be the emotion and recovery coaches for their children while also allowing them to explore their own fears or blocks that inhibit them from supporting their children.
